April screenings of the documentary

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. While we believe in raising awareness all year round, this is an important date to talk about how sexual violence and abuse can affect our lives and the lives of the people in our community.

Our award-winning documentary, Left Write Hook, follows the journey of a group of survivors and it not only shows us the impacts of childhood sexual abuse has had on them, but also how taking part in our 8-week program, combining trauma-aware creative writing and non-contact boxing, can bring a new hope, strength, connection and recovery.

We’re working hard to bring more screenings to the community, so next month you can expect:

  • 20 April: Benalla Cinema
    Presented by Centre Against Violence.
Moderated by Jamie Chubb, Centre Against Violence CEO and featuring Associate Professor Donna Lyon, Dr Shannon Owen, Lucy Lee, (Family Violence & Accommodation Services Manager at Centre Against Violence) and participants from the film.

  • 21 April: Beechworth Secondary College

    Presented by Centre Against Violence.
Moderated by Jamie Chubb, Centre Against Violence CEO and featuring Associate Professor Donna Lyon, Dr Shannon Owen, Lucy Lee, (Family Violence & Accommodation Services Manager at Centre Against Violence) and participants from the film.

All ticket sales go towards supporting Left Write Hook’s work with survivors across Australia.
We hope to see you there!
