Building financial confidence after trauma
Money can be a difficult topic for many survivors.
For people who have experienced childhood sexual abuse, family violence or other forms of trauma, finances can be closely connected to lack of safety, control, independence and choice. Building confidence with money and strengthening our financial knowledge can be an important part of rebuilding confidence in ourselves.
That's why we're partnering with Beyond Bank to offer a free online webinar on Wednesday 12 August, from 6 pm to 7 pm.
This will be a practical and supportive workshop designed to help you better understand your finances and feel more confident when making everyday financial decisions.
You can join the session anonymously and will not be asked to disclose any details about yourself, your trauma or financial history in the session.
The session will begin with a lived experience story from a member of the Left Write Hook team, sharing how rebuilding a relationship with money became part of their healing journey.
Beyond Bank will then guide participants through practical topics including:
Creating a simple budget that works for you.
Understanding different bank accounts and choosing the right one.
Managing debt and understanding credit.
Protecting yourself from scams, identity theft and financial abuse.
Building financial confidence for the future.
There will also be plenty of opportunities to ask questions throughout the session.
While this workshop has been developed with a focus on empowering women, everyone is welcome to attend.
Whether you're starting from scratch, looking to build your confidence, or simply wanting to better understand your options, you'll leave with practical information and resources you can use in everyday life.
The session is free to attend and will be delivered online, making it accessible wherever you are.
