Delivering our first ever rural masterclass

In late November 2025, we delivered a successful Left Write Hook masterclass in Naarm (Melbourne), bringing together a group of committed peers, past participants and practitioners for two days of in-person training.

The masterclass is a key step toward becoming a Left Write Hook facilitator. It’s designed as an immersive, hands-on experience that supports people with lived and living experience to step into facilitation roles grounded in trauma-informed, peer-led practice.

That Melbourne masterclass marked an important milestone for our organisation. Now, we’re preparing for the next one—and it’s a big step forward.

This weekend, we’ll be running our first ever rural masterclass in Mildura, supporting local facilitators to deliver Left Write Hook programs in their own community. This is the first time we’ve taken the masterclass on the road, and it represents an exciting shift toward building local capacity in regional areas.

The Mildura masterclass has been made possible through our partnership with MSAU-MDVS, whose support has been instrumental in helping this work happen locally. Many of those enrolled in the training are past participants of our Mildura pilot program, bringing deep lived experience, commitment and care into the next phase of delivery.

Training facilitators locally means programs can be delivered in ways that are grounded in place, community and connection. It’s a powerful step toward making Left Write Hook more accessible to survivors outside metropolitan areas, and a model we hope to continue growing.

We’re proud of how far this work has come, and excited about what’s ahead.
